Swedish electro-fuel developer Liquid Wind AB has selected AFRY as its engineering partner for its third electro-fuel facility in Sweden – FlagshipTHREE in Umeå.
Liquid Wind aims to supply the marine shipping industry with green electro-fuel – eMethanol – through large-scale production.
The company is now taking the next step by establishing a third eFuel facility – FlagshipTHREE – in collaboration with the energy company Umeå Energi AB in Sweden.
AFRY provided basic engineering for the balance of plant for Liquid Wind’s second eFuel facility in Sweden – FlagshipTWO in Sundsvall.
FlagshipTHREE will be able to capture 230,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) and supply 100,000 tonnes of fossil-free fuel per year to the shipping industry.

AFRY’s assignment in the FlagshipTHREE project includes basic engineering for the balance of plant, which includes project management and adaptation and integration of the electrofuel facility with the energy company Umeå Energi’s plant.
AFRY will also deliver several services within process, electrical, automation, instrumental, piping, mechanical, civil and HVAC.
